At Uneo Health, we're fortunate to collaborate with advisors such as Nikki Ham, who is the former President of the Maryland School Counselor Association, member of the American School Counselor Association Board of Directors, and a trusted voice in school-based mental health.

As part of an ongoing research study, Dr. Ham is evaluating how the Prosper Self-Care App influences student stress levels and coping strategies. Early findings are promising: students are increasingly turning to technology as a supportive coping tool.

In this video, Dr. Ham shares how Prosper helps students track their well-being, build routines, and stay connected to healthier habits.

What school counselors are saying

The Prosper app is a valuable resource for students. It provides helpful information about mental health, stress management, and overall well-being while giving students practical tools they can use in their daily lives. The app encourages students to advocate for themselves, develop healthy coping strategies, and better manage stress. The more students engage with the app, the more beneficial it becomes. Overall, Prosper Self Care is a great addition to our school community.

School Counselor

Students need to feel safe in schools. Prosper has assisted us in offering confidential streams of social emotional learning throughout the school day that makes the students feel safe not only in the school but also in their homes. Attendance has consistently stayed between 80-85%. It can be assumed that students that are increasing their attendance have more of an opportunity to academically perform better based on the simple fact that they are in front of an instructor more often. More importantly, the students' well-being and understanding of themselves has resulted in a decrease in student physical altercations.

School Counselor

The Prosper program has significantly enhanced our school's Tier 1 counseling supports by linking student well-being directly to institutional success. By equipping scholars with daily mood check-ins and habit-tracking tools, Prosper helps reduce the anxiety that drives chronic absenteeism while providing the emotional regulation necessary to improve focus and academic performance. By providing a private, ad-free digital space for self-reflection, Prosper transforms our school culture from reactive crisis-management to proactive daily wellness, ensuring our seniors are emotionally prepared to graduate and confidently transition into adulthood.

Building Self-Care Culture

To date, Prosper is being used by over 8,000 teens who have completed over 100,000 wellness check-ins. Since 2024, we've learned many lessons about engaging with high school students.

When it comes to building a culture of self-care, it takes more than just offering resources.

Building Self-Care Culture in Maryland Schools: Lessons Learned, Insights Gained

The "I Will Prosper" Campaign

What do you think of when you hear the word "prosper"? Do you think of physical health, mental health, finances, family, or maybe a bit of everything?

In early 2026, our team set out to find the answers and to learn what our community does for self-care.

One thing became clear: prosperity looks different for everyone, but much of the things they valued would not be possible without self-care. In fact, in a survey conducted by Uneo Health, 90% of respondents considered mental health as an aspect of life that contributes to their ability to prosper.

Building Self-Care Culture

In November, Uneo Health was featured in a webinar hosted by the Maryland Rural Health Association. Originally scheduled to be presented at their conference in October, this session explores how emerging digital tools are transforming access to mental health support for teens in rural and underserved areas.

The webinar covers practical strategies, real-world examples, and technology-driven approaches such as Prosper that make care more accessible and equitable.

To hear the discussion led by our CEO, Eric Sullivan and Calvert County Public Schools (CCPS) Mental Health Coordinator Tiffany McFarlandt, check out the recording here:
