Johns Hopkins Publishes New Research on Uneo Health’s Prosper App

June 29, 2026

Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine has published new research evaluating the feasibility, acceptability, and efficacy of Prosper, Uneo Health's mobile health application, among adolescents with prediabetes. Published in Diabetes, Obesity, and CardioMetabolic CARE, the prospective pilot study examined how Prosper can support young people in tracking nutrition, exercise, and other healthy lifestyle behavior goals between clinic visits. Researchers found high levels of participant satisfaction and usability, with 96–100% of participants reporting that the app was easy to use, while 74–87% reported satisfaction with the app, and most found it helpful for tracking nutrition and exercise goals. Over the course of the study, participants completed more than 2,000 habit check-offs, 575 wellness check-ins, and 114 journal entries, demonstrating meaningful engagement with the platform.

The study also highlights Prosper's potential to support health equity through accessible digital health tools. More than half of participants (56%) were insured through Medicaid, 64% identified as Black, and the study population reflects youth who are disproportionately affected by prediabetes and youth-onset type 2 diabetes. By evaluating Prosper in a diverse cohort, the research provides encouraging evidence that mobile health solutions can help extend support beyond clinic visits and increase access to lifestyle management resources for adolescents who may face social determinants of health (SDOH) barriers to ongoing care.

Since each participant used the app for only three months, the pilot was not powered to demonstrate changes in long-term clinical outcomes such as BMI or HbA1c. Regardless, the authors concluded that mobile health tools like Prosper show promise as a scalable way to support lifestyle modification and self-management for adolescents with prediabetes. The study adds to the growing body of evidence supporting digital health solutions that complement clinical care and empower patients to take an active role in managing their health.
